About the client
Bombardier - large manufacturer of regional airliners, business jets, mass transportation equipment, and recreational equipment, and a provider of financial services.
The challenge
Support in projects which are not the core of the Client’s operation. The projects were entirely assigned to Sii.
What we did
The principal task of the DMS is to collect data coming from different systems, parse them, store these events in a data base, analyze with RPS (Rule Processing Service) and send alarms using the SNMP protocol. The DMS needs to be efficient and work in a cluster environment. In the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) implementation there are 4 DMS Nodes placed in 2 separate centers called PCC and BCC (Primary and Secondary Control Center respectively). The DMS collects data from other systems based on the TCP/IP protocol. Each collector runs on a separate thread and on a defined port. The collected data is parsed and stored on shared storage so all other nodes can continue to work after failover or the collector can collect and store data even if the data base is offline.
We have created a 12-person team to deliver this project: 3 Java Developers, a Web Developer, a System Engineer, QA Engineer, DevOps and MSSQL specialist, HA specialist, SSRS/SSAS specialist, LB/Net specialist and Project Manager.
Effects
The Client could focus on major aspects of its operation, which improved the company’s productivity.
